Sue's Story
Sue’s daily life is being a driller on the mines in WA. Doing a boudoir photography session was totally out of her comfort zone and quite frankly, frightening for her. Read her story on how she went from feeling masculine for most of her life and discovering her feminity through her Zest Photography experience…
“From who I was before this experience to who I have become after the photoshoot has changed who I am now for the better”
“My friend has had a photoshoot before and had an amazing experience, she knew of the troubles I was going through and encouraged me to try it out. I have been judged for being too masculine, left for not being girly or caring about my image. Same issues at work, I was judged and neglected just because I was female. I was down in the gutter and hoping to try something new to make me feel better.
I was nervous, only wearing lingerie and being nude. I am a little camera shy and I never looked at myself as a beauty or thought my body’s physique was beautiful. I was worried the photos would turn out plain, like myself. At first, I felt shy, but I was encouraged throughout the photoshoot, all smiles, laugh and chatter. During the photoshoot I felt comfortable, everyone was so friendly throughout the whole experience.

Afterwards I felt Amazing…. Butterflies and near on tears, it has impacted my confidence positively. It was a self-finding experience and it helped me to love myself no matter what I looked or acted like. I will have these photos hanging in my bedroom, so when I look at myself in the mirror, I can also look at these photos and feel more confident about myself.
I would tell any woman in the same position as me to give it a go! Because… from who I was before this experience to who I have become after this photoshoot has changed who I am now for the better. I hope that all women and men can learn to feel love for themselves no matter the negative judgment and neglect you have had in your life. Who is to judge who’s beautiful or ugly, anyway, we choose for ourselves.”
