Jessica's Favourite photos of 2024 - Part 3
Over the past few months, I’ve had the absolute privilege of photographing so many incredible women who stepped into our studio ready to celebrate themselves. Today, I want to share a collection of my personal favorite images—moments that I believe capture the essence of beauty, strength, vulnerability, and creativity. Every woman who comes into the studio brings her own unique story, and it’s such an honor to help bring that story to life through the lens.
Each session is a collaboration, and no two are ever alike. My goal is always to create a safe, empowering space where you can express yourself fully—whether that means embracing your softer, quieter side or unleashing the powerful dark goddess within. These images are a reflection of that process—of confidence found, beauty embraced, and stories told.
A standout for me has to be this mystical, Hecate goddess-inspired portrait, this session was all about honouring the goddess spirit who has guided and protected this woman. Esoteric makeup and dramatic lighting created a scene that felt otherworldly—a little bit of fantasy brought to life. I’ve always been drawn to themes of mythology and Romanticism, and this image embodies those inspirations perfectly.
Using double exposures, mirror image reflections, and illusions, we explored the concept of the triple goddess and the duality that exists within us all. The layered effects and shadows created a sense of mystery and depth, and the final portraits felt powerful and symbolic, as though they captured the essence of womanhood itself.
One favourite is this soft black and white portrait that feels deeply intimate. Her expression is gentle, almost vulnerable, yet filled with strength. It’s the kind of image that reminds me why I do this work: to help women see themselves as they are—real, beautiful, and enough.
Another highlight was working with a client who wanted to celebrate her love of Harry Potter. She arrived at the studio wearing Hogwarts robes and brought along an incredible collection of props—wands, potion bottles, and well-loved books. Together, we created magical portraits that felt straight out of the wizarding world.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work has been incorporating fantasy elements into these shoots. I love helping my clients tap into archetypes that resonate with them—goddess, warrior, muse. These portraits images, with their dramatic lighting and fantasy-inspired styling, feels like a piece of fine art—a true celebration of the feminine spirit.
There was an unforgettable session featured a woman who wanted to embody a primal, ancient warrior from pre-history. She dressed as a hunter, connecting with her strength and animalistic power. The raw, fierce energy of the shoot was palpable, and the final images reflected her connection to a deep, ancient part of herself.
Movement is something I always love to explore in photoshoots. This next image captures her mid-leap, her hair floating, her body free and alive. the fabric moving like a wave, enveloping her as though it has a life of its own. It’s such a beautiful way to add motion and drama to a portrait, turning the fabric into a dynamic part of the story.
Always Curious, Jessica Truscott
