Adriana's Top 10 Photo's of December 2020
Here’s a look back on the beautiful families and women I have had the pleasure to work with in December 2020. I am so pleased with these images and are amongst so many beautiful art pieces I have created for our amazing clients.
Here’s my top ten for December hope you all love them as much as I do !!
My favourite photos from December…
1 & 2. Memories of a lost love
Renae came to our studio wanting to explore her futuristic steampunk side and the old fashion feel which steampunk incorporates. She also wanted to be turned into a dragon. Why you ask? I asked the same question and there was a very big story behind the dragon…
Renae lost her husband suddenly a year before coming to our studio. His death left Renae and her 9 year old daughters heart broken. The emotion of Renae’s story had such an impact on me, as I to can relate having a 9 year old little girl of my own who I adore and have had the huge loss of a loved one.
Renae had brought along little bits and pieces, props and materials and little mementos from her wedding day, things that reminded her of her husband. They had been together over 16 years, she said that her husband and daughter would play games and the dragon was a symbol of him.
She wanted these photos created to hang in her home so she would be able to bring back a piece of him not only for herself but for her daughter, so Daddy will always be present in their home.
It takes my role of a photographer to a new place when I go deep into peoples story to truly see who they are. I love this so much xxx
“…her husband and daughter would play games and the dragon was a symbol of him.”
3 & 4. Love conquers all
In the lead up to Valentine’s day I am feeling especially soppy. Our two couples below are on completely different ends of their relationship timeline. Michelle & Graham have been married 31 years and Asmaa & Robert are engaged to be married in the next year. Even though they are so different, there is one thing that makes these couples and images exactly the same - their CONNECTION & LOVE. Awwwhhh so sweet.
5. Lovely little family
I really loved photographing Hannah and her little family. Their daughter was an absolute angel and you could really see how much they loved their little girl. Being first time parents can be so challenging and very quickly we realise there is no operations manual to know what to do and how to be a parent. The rewards come by just being in the moment. Isn’t she just the cutest xx
6. Flow & Glow
From the cutest little family to the beautiful glow of a pregnancy shoot. I absolutely love this time in life and I believe its so underrated. Why wouldn’t you want to capture the absolute miracle of pregnancy?
So often as mothers we only focus on the weight we have put on during our pregnancy and the dreaded mummy tummy. I just want to say ladies “We experienced growing a beautiful human being inside our bodies” - What a significant moment to capture!
This photo shows that miracle in such an elegant and beautiful way. I love the soft creamy background and the drama and flow of the material. Sade was absolutely glowing in her pregnancy photography shoot and wanted to express the beauty of what she was going through in an elegant and graceful way with movement.
7 & 8. An eye for beauty
These two ladies are stunning.
For me I am drawn in by their eyes. I want to know more about them, who they are, what they do. The lighting in both these images are completely different yet I see the same beautiful, expression and gaze which draws me to their eyes.
It’s the window to their soul and these women are soulful.
9. Reflections
Roni came to us with a mission - To get her sexy back!
I love using mirrors and capturing reflection. We always see something different to what is there when we look in the mirror.
Roni told me that when she looked at her self in the mirror at home, she did not like what she saw. When she saw this picture of herself, she loved it and couldn’t believe her reflection could be so beautiful. She finally saw her true self - beautiful!
10. amaya, a fathers love
What can I say about this little girl. She was just meant to be in front of the camera. This image will be confronting and controversial for some people and that’s ok – I’ve already been asked “why is she so sad?” – and my response is “She isn’t”.
So often we have been told that you must smile in front of a camera and yes, that’s okay. There are different images which will capture happiness in their own right, capturing a little one at play with real laughter and excitement is so much different then telling them to say cheese just so they look happy.
This photo for me captures the essence of a story – her story. I see beauty and depth and emotion behind her expression behind who this little girl is. I was asked to create this by her father to show her soft and solemn side as this is something he sees and represent his daughter to him.
Such an exciting last month of the year. Enjoy your xmas and happy new year.
