Why is boudoir photography so popular?
Sexy!
Sensual!
Empowered!
A few ways to describe a form of glamour portrait photography that’s making a huge comeback.
You guessed it, Boudoir photography is all everyone is talking about at the moment!
Do you know any ladies in your life who have had this incredible experience?
Have you noticed a huge transformation in them since their photoshoot?
This form of photography started up in the early 1920s, so what has made this so much more popular for ladies in the last few years?
Boudoir is actually a French word which describes a women’s dressing room, in typical French houses of the time this was seen as a place for women to escape to enjoy their own company, or to spend some private time with someone special…..
Photographs featuring nudity were actually illegal in many countries during the 1920’s, so Boudoir offered a suitable alternative to full nude photographs, where the gorgeous models and socialites of the time would be photographed in lavish studios to embrace and celebrate their sexuality and sensuality.
By the time the 1940’s rolled around, there was a huge shift in terms of what body types and shapes were seen as beautiful and sexy. Soon women of all shapes and sizes started to embrace this style of glamour photography! Many ladies opted for the cheeky and flirtatious ‘pin-up’ style as a great way to explore a more sexy, cheeky and liberated side to themselves.
Glamour and Boudoir photography became so popular that they eventually replaced illustrated images of women in many catalogues, publications and magazines in the 1970’s which has continued this day. With the ever growing influence of social media in todays world, ladies find it all too easy to get caught up comparing themselves and their bodies against those of the celebrities, models and influencers they see online.
But who is to say that you can’t look and feel just as fabulous as they do??
As the body positivity movement continues to grow, women are realising that Boudoir is about so much more then looking sexy in a photograph!
A professional Boudoir photography session is your opportunity to transform into a more elevated version of yourself. It is an amazing way to represent women at their most vulnerable and their most confident, to embrace all the sides of themselves, including those which have been the source of insecurities in the past, which is why it’s so empowering.
Although a lot has changed in the world and for women since the 1920’s, one thing that holds true is that all women deserve an opportunity to look and feel fabulous!
To see themselves in a more positive light and to reflect on all their beautiful features and what makes them unique.
No two women are exactly alike, and a Boudoir photography session should reflect this.
Boudoir celebrates what is it that makes us different and what makes us female!
It tells a story of what women have been through and what they are learning about themselves during the glamour photoshoot.
Boudoir photography has become more and more popular because of the growing support in society for self love and acceptance, support for women and people from all walks of life who want to transform the way they feel about themselves.
Something that was once considered taboo, or too inappropriate to publish 50 years ago, has now become popular.
Why?
Because a boudoir photography experience is a powerful and transformative experience for every women who is ready to celebrate themselves.
