When I am asked what I do for work I say, I am a boudoir photographer and I change lives. Usually, there is a baffled look followed by – what’s boudoir?
The word itself comes from the French word which means a woman’s private salon. How fancy! Boudoir photography shoots are for women who want to explore a different side to their personality, a more sensual and sexual side.
So many of our clients have come for very different reasons such as:
A post-divorce confidence boost
Eating disorders and body dysmorphia who can’t see themselves as they truly are.
Celebrating their loss of weight
Mum’s between bath time, dinner time, snotty nose time and temper tantrum time, who have lost sight of what a beautiful and sensual woman they are. Because they just want to be seen and are grieving the body they once had or are ready to celebrate the body they have worked so hard to get back.

As women, we often have this image in our heads of what we would like to look like, the urge to be “perfect”. But our bodies tell a story of who we are. The stretch marks and loose skin on our belly. The laugh lines and colour of your hair. Freckles, moles, weight, scars, all of it makes up part of your story. Embrace that! Celebrate it!
