Whether this is your first time or you are a professional model, it is normal to feel nervous about how to pose.
Everyday we hear women say… “I don’t know what to do with my hands, where should I be looking? how do I act like a normal human being? Help me!”
Do not worry, we will help you! Our photographers know how to guide you through flattering poses for your body shape and personality. We guide you in such a way, that by the end of your session you will feel like a superstar!
In this blog we have picked 6 simple posing ideas and included a few tips on how to perfect them.
These poses don’t require any complicated gymnastics to get into and can be practiced at home to perfect before your photoshoot session.
1. Hands above your head
Pretending like you are in the shower washing your hair, this pose helps to lift the chin and arch the back while your hands drawing attention to your face. The intimate act of touching your own body can imply sensuality in the image.
In fact we have found that women like this pose so much that we use it everywhere: standing, sitting, dancing, lying down…..
2. The Hair flip
Speaking of playing with hair…. Why not flip and whip your tresses around creating movement and giving your image a sense of sexy wildness. A great way to level up any pose !
3. The Cuddle
This pose is perfect for framing your chest in a subtle way while giving your images a sense of self love with a soft cuddly feeling, allowing your hands to gently touch your arms for a feeling of sensuality.
You can also use this pose to create coverage over your stomach area, hiding that part of the body alot of our women don’t want to feature.
4. Simply sitting
Sitting on the floor with your ankles crossed in front of you, a simple pose but lovely. This pose is great for nude portraits, with the legs covering all the essential parts while still showcasing the legs hips and arms.
It looks natural, elegant, comfortable, and beautiful.
5. Dramatically sitting
An add on for the sitting pose: lean back and let your head drop behind you, arching the back for something a little sexier. If you try this pose in profile, with straight leg (remember to point your toes), it will help to lengthen your body.
6. Hands on hips
A pose most women are already familiar with, however we have a tip to make sure this pose looks great. Make sure to place your hands above your hips, on your waistline. Most people place their hands on the lower widest part of their hips, making you look shorter and wider.
By placing your hands higher it will ensure your legs appear much longer and you are accentuating your waist. Play with lifting and dropping your shoulders and hips to add extra sassyness.
Try practicing these tips at home and remember to have fun!
… and don’t worry, our fabulous team of photographers will help you get these poses spot on in our studio when we see you.
