5 body types and the lingerie to suit
By no means do we ever want to put a label on any woman.
It is something we have been told for so long if you aren’t built like a coke bottle, you’re not good enough.
This blog isn’t about seeing yourself as any different, better, or worse than any other woman.
The truth is ladies… we all can wear whatever we want, what we feel comfortable and sexy in, there are no rules when it comes to what we choose to wear.
The purpose of writing this blog is to give you some tips on understanding your body shape and help find that perfect outfit to give your body that extra something.
Lingerie is about showing off who you are or who you want to be, and the right lingerie can unleash that sexy woman hiding beneath the surface and bring her out to play.
Some women are all over it and know exactly what suits them and will pull from their collection of lingerie pieces. However, some have no idea what they should wear when comes to their Boudoir Photography shoot.
It may be that they aren’t feeling confident about their body, or this is their very first time in front of the camera in a professional sense or maybe it’s their first-time buying lingerie. No matter the reason these tips can help you navigate what to wear for your boudoir shoot to highlight your shape and body in the most incredible way.
As a boudoir photographer, the question we get asked most often is, “What should I wear to my Boudoir shoot?”

The key to looking good and feeling confident with your body is choosing outfits that will accentuate your curves in all the right places. Wearing lingerie that suits your body and shape, is key to looking and feeling incredible.
The first step to creating those incredible boudoir looks is to know your body shape and select lingerie which is going to compliment your body.
Here are some guidelines:
1. Rectangle Shape
A retangular figure has no defined curves, we suggest wearing the following:
Lingerie that cinches at the waist.
Corsets are the great option for that as they add curves and look sensuous.
A garter belt.
Stockings with heels will add to this look.
Accentuate breasts by going for push-up bras and bustier lingerie.
2. Inverted Triangle Shape
An inverted triangle is described as any body shape with larger proportions on top than on the bottom.
We suggest wearing the following:
Lingerie that cinches at the waist.
Halter necks are a great good option here.
A bralette with a matching lace panty or a thong is another sexy option.
3. Hourglass Shape
This body type is named for the contoured shape of your waist compared to your bust and hips.
We suggest wearing the following:
Lingerie that adds oomph to this body shape.
Garter belts, bodysuits, and corsets are great choices.
Go for a high-leg panty.
Or a thong with a lace bra.
4. Apple Shape
The apple body shape is more of a rounder shape. A rounded waistline will suit lingerie that makes your body look proportionate.
We suggest wearing the following:
A baby doll dress will define the bust line which is always a winner.
A bodysuit or lace lingerie gowns are also great choices – they are sexy and gives you something to play with in your photoshoot.
5. Pear Shape
This body type is slender on top, and wider in the hips and legs. Big hips are all the rage right now.
We suggest wearing the following:
A lacy baby doll dress that shows cleavage but flows down around the hips is a great option.
A bustier is also a great option to draw attention to your breasts.
Just remember ladies these are only guidelines and as they say, “All rules were meant to be broken!!” So, experiment with your looks and find those key pieces that will bring you out of your shell and your comfort zone. 😊
